The Crisis in Burma

Walter Koenig works to bring world attention to the Burmese
political crisis--and to the thousands of refugees suffering because of it.
At the invitation of the humanitarian group U.S. Campaign for Burma,
Walter and his son Andrew visited refugee camps along the
Burma-Thailand border in July 2007.  He will be helping  in their
grassroots campaign to get the message out about the human rights
violations, and the long running struggle and suffering of the Burmese
people: including the permanent residents of the refugee camps in Thailand.

Keep an eye out for Walter and Andrew's speaking appearances regarding
the Burma situation.

Visit our
Burma Crisis page for more pictures, interviews, and details of
the trip. For up to date information on the situation visit

The people of Burma have demonstrated incredible bravery in the ongoing struggle against the brutal
military regime in control of their country. The current military dictatorship has imprisoned Aung San
Suu Kyi, the democratically elected president of Burma and a Nobel Peace Prize winner, since 1993.
Known to much of the world as "Burma's Nelson Mandela", Suu Kyi leads a remarkable peaceful
campaign for human rights and democracy against the Burmese military dictatorship. Like Mandela when
he was imprisoned in South Africa, Suu Kyi has appealed for international support.
Burma, renamed Myanmar by the military regime,  is a
known source of human trafficking and is the second
largest producer of illicit opium. They have no Bill of
Rights and their constitution was suspended in 1988.
Their violent policies include severe beatings and
torture of detainees and the Karen people. They have
destroyed more than 3,300 ethnic minority villages in
their scorched earth ethnic cleansing campaign - which
resulted in creating more than 1 million refugees. They
have forcibly conscripted up to 70,000 child soldiers
(more than any other country in the world), and have
nearly doubled the number of political prisoners in the
last 18 months.... to more than 2,100.

Walter on his trip to Thailand and the crisis in Burma:

"Time and again on this trip we were exposed to human beings who were gentle in nature but strong in
determination. There was no beating of chests and cries for vengeance: just the absolute certainty that
with time, perseverance, and pressure for change from the rest of the world, life would get better."

now protect his “son” from the government, or will
society demand this “monster” be destroyed?

What Fans are Saying!!

"Alternately scary and kooky, Inalienable boasts a procession of sci-fi icons... touching
symbolically on timely topics like toleration of differences and compassion towards
foreigners, even if they are aliens. While Erik Avari does radically cosmic comic relief
as a weirdly eloquent lawyer defending the civil rights of the partially human
offspring, when not presiding over a rather strange but genius organization called The
Society For Alternative Explanations. Where do you sign up."
~ Prairie Miller

"...Walter Koenig, delivers this stirring, original film about what makes someone human,
no matter their planet of origin.... that tests the limits of human compassion and
societal rejection. Very emotional and very powerful with a shock ending that will make
you hate humanity just a little bit more."
~ Louis Fowler

"A courtroom thriller masquerading as a sci-fi drama, InAlienable is an intriguing
effort with higher acting caliber than one might expect...."
~ DVD Verdict

"It astonishes by how much better it gets as it goes along..."
-SciFi Weekly

"...a brilliant piece of topical work that coats a light veneer of sci-fi over a
controversial message that has extemely important implications for our contemporary
times."
-A Slice of Sci Fi

"Inalienable...Walter Koenig script entertains, solid Sci-Fi Thriller! The highlight of
the Backlot Festival yesterday was undoubtedly the Sci-Fi thriller, "Inalienable",
starring Richard Hatch, Walter Koenig, and Courtney Peldon."

Walter still does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Help us correct this ridiculous oversight!

Walter is the only one of the seven main Star Trek stars still without a star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame. All the funds needed have been raised: we only await the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce's vote in June 2010.

The WOF committee voted in June 2009 and chose again NOT to award Walter Koenig a star on
the Walk of Fame. A new nomination has been submitted and the committee will vote again in
June 2010. It is time now that the last star for the original cast is awarded as the torch is
passed onto a new cast with the premier of "Star Trek XI" in May of 2009. The website staff
here ask that people do everything they can to encourage the committee to vote to award
Walter much deserved star!
