Walter awarded his star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame!
On June 21, 2011, John Pavlik, Committee Chairman for the Hollywood
Chamber of Commerce, announced that Walter Koenig had at last been
chosen to be one of the recipients for a stars on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame. Said Walter: "This is something that you hope and wish for: dream
about, but something you never expect to really happen. It's a joyous
occasion and I am deeply honored."

While all of them have their handprints and signitures in cement in front
of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Walter is the last of the main seven cast
members of "Star Trek: The Original Series" to be awarded a star.
Walter has been nominated yearly since 2006 and fans had been constantly rallying to impress upon the
committee why they thought Walter should receive a star. His qualifications include a  television career
spanning over 51 years - starting with the pilot episode for "General Hospital", and the creation of not one,
but two iconic characters: "Pavel Chekov" in "Star Trek" and "Alfred Bester" in "Babylon 5" - for which he
was submitted for Emmy consideration. His community involvement has included grassroots work to
restore community theatres, work on behalf of two American Indian communities, organizations
committed to animal rights,  a charity assisting teens living on the streets, and an on-going commitment to
help bring an end to the human rights violations in Myanmar.

Fans have never let up on their own commitment...to see Walter awarded his star. Letter writing
campaigns, petitions, and even videos have inundated the Walk of Fame committee chairman (Johnny
Grant previously, now John Pavlik). A spokesman for the WOF noted that not one week went by when
they did not receive letters from fans in support of Walter's star.

While it has been 8 years since the last "Star Trek" Star was awarded (James Doohan, 2004), the time
frame is not unusual. The Walk of Fame Committee receives almost 300 nominations a year and only
award 10-15 stars annually. (Doohan's star came 12 years following Nichelle Nichols star.)

The website staff would like to personally thank all the fans and websites that have worked so hard to
make this happen, as well as the WOF committee members and staff that went to bat for Walter as well.

THE WALTER KOENIG STAR CELEBRATION
September 8-10, 2012

The Beverly Garland
4222 Vineland Ave
N. Hollywood, CA 91602
Back in 2005, the fans got together and raised the $15,000 that
it would cost to install a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
for Walter. Since that time, the cost has risen to $30,000. This
pays not only to manufacture the star, but for the road closings,
police and EMT presence, and other costs associated with the
ceremony. The Website Staff here at Walter's official site
encourage everyone to help make history happen with the last
of the "Star Trek: TOS" ceremonies. Visit the
walterstarfund
page today and donate what you can...$10, $20...more. With
the Hollywood Expo staff, we've come up with some awesome
gifts in return for your help! Check it out!!
